Cheque Presentation to North Bay Military Family Resource Centre

Clermont MFRC, and Ray PavloveA cheque in the amount of $10328.00 was presented to Tessa Clermont, Executive Direct of the North Bay MFRC.   Ms Clermont thanked everyone for their support, “Your money will go a long way to support  the  work we do serving in our military personnel and their families who are left behind during deployment. We respond to the unique needs of military families. There are 32 Military Family Resource Centres in Canada that provide needed support to military and veterans’ families. We in North Bay have a huge area to serve, from Parry Sound to the Soo and north to Hudson Bay. Thanks to everyone for helping us help those serving or who have served.”   Major Serge Palin from 22 Wing CFB North Bay also spoke on how the Family Resource Centre sends care packages with to those serving overseas and how important it is to receive them. “These packages are important to us and help us deal with the harsh realities of serving away from home.”

A cheque in the amount of $2057.00 was presented to WO Hayden of CFB Borden Military Family Resource Centre. This amount represents to receipts form the Silent Auction and donations at the Beer & Wings Night. “I am pleased to to deliver this cheque to the MFRC and thank everyone for supporting the troops,”  said WO Wendell Hayden. 2017 Curlers Care 2-4 Support Our Troops Champions

Team Jim-Bob finished in first place in the 3rd Annual Curlers Care 2-4 SOT Bonspiel, winning the Connor Industry Crest.

The first event produced winners in each of the six pools. These teams advanced to a shoot. With nine points, Team Jim-Bob recorded the highest score and claimed the Championship.

All Pool Winners were presented with a box of Maple Dale Cheese.

Pool A – RBC Royal Bank Winners

CFB Borden Family Resource Centre Receives Support

Military Troops from C.F.B. Borden provided the Colour Party for the 3rd Annual Curlers Care Support Our Troops Bonspiel. Tom Traversy on left, and Ray Pavlove far right, presented WO Wendell Hayden, next to Ray, with a $1835.00 cheque made payable to the CFB Borden Family Resource Centre to assist Military families in need. In appreciation for their service each member of the Colour Party received a Curlers Care ball cap, a Curlers Care scarf and a Proud Sponsor Certificate to take back to their Base Commander. ”We were delighted that four members of the CAF stationed at C.F.B. Borden agreed to come to Parry Sound and carry the flags in the Opening Ceremony. They also expressed interest in curling which was a great idea and added greatly to the event.” said Tom Traversy event organizer. WO Wendell Hayden, said, “As non curlers we had a blast. We will be back next year. We didn’t realize curling could be so much fun. Thanks to Dan & Debbie Glenney and Barb & Wendell Fisher for hosting us on the weekend.”

Planet Bean Top Fundraiser Award – Curlers Care 2-4 SOT Bonspiel

Team Hot Shots Team with Skip Gene Dromisky and Jim Bisson collected $1600.00 in pledges to claim the Plant Bean Award as top Fundraisers in the Curlers Care 2-4 Support Our Troops Bonspiel. Priceless Team Finishes Second – Planet Bean Top Fundraiser Award

Team Priceless collected $1460.00 in pledges and finished in second place in the Planet Bean Top Fundraiser Award. “Ron Orr’s did a great job helping us collect pledges for our team. Without his help we would have not finished in second place. Thanks Ron,”said Amanda Cunsolo pictured with Grandpa Ray Pavlove.

The Parry Sound Curling Club hosted their annual 2-4 Support Our Troops Bonspiel from March 4-5, 2017. Forty-eight teams participated in raising awareness and funds for Canadian Forces members and their families. The event was also a way to give thanks to the Canadian Forces, along with members of local emergency services (OPP, paramedics, firefighters, etc).
